An extra large August issue of Senior News, “Animals Are People, Too!,” is out on the newsracks of Humboldt County this week. It’s a little wild. We bumped from our usual 24 pages to 28 pages to accommodate the herds of articles.

As usual, we need stories for the upcoming Senior News.
The September issue will look at AI — artificial intelligence — and its role in our lives. There is so much to understand about this technology that we couldn’t cover it all in Senior News if we had a year (and engaged AI to write it). But we can take a whack at sharing what we know/think/fear about AI. If you have thoughts on this, we’d love to hear them. Our deadline for articles 400-500 words (plus photos/art) is Aug. 12 or sooner to this address or tpease@humsenior.org. Don’t delay or a chatbot might take your space!
Next, we will present a musical October with a focus on Humboldt’s musical talent and sweet sounds, from classical players to kazoo bands (are there any?), from old Humboldt hippie bands to community choruses and orchestras, from native drumming to ukuleles to tubas. If you know of a musician or band that would make a good story, write it! Send your melodic compositions — 400-500 words plus photos (and video for the website!) — by Sept. 12 or sooner to this address or tpease@humsenior.org.
