The 2026 Supporting Healthy Aging Conference, sponsored by the Humboldt Senior Resource Center, will take place on Thursday, May 14 at the Sequoia Conference Center in Eureka.
This year’s full-day conference theme, “Value in Aging,” will explore topics in aging through engaging presentations and interactive discussions. The conference speakers are recognized experts and leaders in their respective fields. We are excited to be joined by keynote speaker Alexis Abramson, Ph.D. – a nationally recognized expert on aging and caregiving who holds a doctorate in gerontology from USC – speaking about “The Four Keys to Longevity: What We Gain in Our Bonus Years.”
The day’s agenda also includes sessions presented by local experts Jamie Jensen, Ph.D. on “The Good Life Framework: Redefining Value in Aging Through Belonging, Freedom, Adaptation and Gratitude,” Andrew Levine, Ph.D. on “The Value of Brain Health: What New Science Tells Us About Reducing Dementia Risk,” Dr. Jennifer Heidmann on “When Care Becomes Healing: A Contemplative Medical View of Aging and Caregiving,” and Elizabeth Lara-O’Rourke on “Bringing Elder Back Through a Cultural Perspective” The closing panel session will bring the day’s speakers together to discuss “Value in Aging: What We Gain, What We Give and What We Must Build Next.”
The course fee is $55 and includes continuing education credit for nurses and LCSWs/LMFTs, lunch, and all course materials. Those who would benefit from attending include healthcare and social service providers, family caregivers, professionals serving aging adults, students, and anyone interested in aging well.
