For many older adults who live alone, including participants in Humboldt Senior Resource Center’s Meals on Wheels and PETS programs, pets are their closest companions. For these seniors, their pets help reduce loneliness and stress, and also help improve their mental and physical health. The pets benefit from having stable, loving homes.

Sponsoring a pet is easy:

• Just visit either Nilsen Co in Eureka or the Myrtle Avenue Pet Center in Myrtletown.
• Look for the giving tree and select a local senior’s pet gift tag.
• After purchasing your gift, attach the tag and either place the unwrapped gift in the collection bin or drop off your gift at HSRC, 1910 California Street, between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday–Friday.

This pet sponsorship opportunity runs from November 24 through December 18.
