HSRC’s Heritage Cafés Featured in National Podcast

HSRC’s Heritage Café program was featured in a recent “Learn, Eat and Age Well” podcast from NANASP and the Nutrition & Aging Resource Center about agencies that provide the “latest and greatest” in senior nutrition services.  The link to the podcast can be found here.

In the podcast Tasha Romo, HSRC’s Director of Nutrition & Activities, provides details regarding the  federal  Administration for Community Living (ACL ) grant awarded to HSRC’s Senior Nutrition Program that was used to reimagine HSRC’s nutrition services.  Grant monies were used to update the senior dining centers to Heritage Cafés and to develop and support once-weekly Heritage Café Pop Ups in communities with no senior dining sites. HSRC’s Heritage Cafés  now serve as a model for other rural senior centers wishing to update their own senior dining programs.

In this podcast, Tasha details how HSRC successfully implemented these changes and also discusses how HSRC’s Heritage Café services reduce food insecurity and loneliness.
